Planning Document 3

Activities that will enhance a close and professional relationship between students and facilitarors.

The first day of a session is essential to the success of the it. It is important to start the session on a positive note by making sure all of the participants feel comfortable and get to know each other as soon as possible.

Instead of asking the students to say their names, the facilitaror can divide the group into pairs and give them a few minutes to interview each other. Then, each student should introduce their partners by name and to share at least two unique characteristics about them.

Also, the facilitaror can divides the group into pairs and ask the students to tell each other their favorite food or name the animal they feel best describes them and why. This information can be shared with the group when the students introduce their partners. (this can be a funny situation)

  • It is very important to impart a teamwork environment from the very first time.

Conceptual Timeline for Studio Program 2010 (June 28th - August 5th)

Week 1
  • Introduction of staff (mentors & facilitarors).
  • Present the mission and desired goals of the program.
  • Set the appropriate rules to conduct the studi sessions.
  • Discuss important topics that are relevant when conducting each session.
  • Distribute the supportive material for the students ( handouts & netbooks).
  • Discuss protocols for using the new technology ( software & hardware).
  • Create a strong network between studio program personnel and counselors/other staff.
  • Q&A section.

Week 2

  • On the first session, get to know the student through a personal story.
  • Analize student background (question like who am I).
  • Explain concepts related to the program.
  • Talk about the expectations of the program.
  • Short meetings for the mentors during the week to share experiences.
  • Reports to analize the studio progress.

Week 3

  • Conduct studio sessions as scheduled.
  • Mentor and facilitaror meetings.
  • Q&A section ( if there is time)
  • Report to the coordinator.

Week 4

  • Conduct studio sessions as scheduled.
  • Mentor and facilitaror meetings.
  • Q&A section ( if there is time)
  • Report to the coordinator.

Week 5

  • Conduct studio sessions as scheduled.
  • Mentor and facilitaror meetings.
  • Q&A section ( if there is time)
  • Report to the coordinator.

Week 6

  • Conduct studio sessions as scheduled.
  • Mentor and facilitaror meetings.
  • Q&A section ( if there is time)
  • Report to the coordinator.

Week 7

  • Analysis and strong supportive sessions to the students because during this week there will be projects due, examinations, etc.
  • Meeting (mentor sand facilitarors).

Week 8

  • Collection of data, analysis and outcomes from the studio program.
